Ventas, Inc. is a real estate investment trust (REIT) operating at the intersection of healthcare and real estate. The Company owns or has investment in approximately 1,200 properties. It operates through three segments: triple-net leased properties, senior living operations and office operations. In triple-net leased properties segment, it invests in and owns senior housing and healthcare properties across the United States and the United Kingdom and lease those properties to healthcare operating companies under triple-net or absolute-net leases. In senior living operations segment, it invests in senior housing communities throughout the United States and Canada and engages independent operators, such as Atria and Sunrise, to manage those communities. In office operations segment, its primarily acquire, owns, develops, leases and manages medical office buildings and life science, research and innovation centers throughout the United States.
